Dharma City, August 2024

Migmed Rinpoche with Jomo Gudrun, who has been a very close student of Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche and is his representative, together with Tulku Ugen Chencho, Rinpoche’s youngest son.

We were honoured to host Tulku Migmed Dorje Rinpoche, together with his wife, at Dharma City during the summer shedra. As the eldest son of Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche (Khordong Terchen Tulku Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche), the lineage holder of the Khordong and the Northern Treasures (Jangter, byang gter) traditions in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, Rinpoche’s visit strengthened even more the connection between Patrul Rinpoche’s lineage and the Jangter lineage.

Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche (1922 – 2002) was a renowned Nyingma master and a tertön. He was recognized as the tulku of Khordong Terchen Nudan Dorje and enthroned at the Khordong Monastery in Kham, Tibet, at the age of four. Considered to be the mind emanation of Padmasambhava, Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche played a crucial role in preserving the Nyingma teachings in and outside of Tibet. Today, the Khordong tradition is thriving in both India and Poland, with established centres in Siliguri and Darnków, and its teachings have influenced countless practitioners worldwide.

Tulku Migmed Dorje Rinpoche was born in India where he also resides for the time being. He regularly visits Dropan Ling in Darnków, Poland, the main European centre of the Jangter Buddhist Nyingma tradition. While he did not teach during this particular visit, his modesty and devotion set an example, and his presence alone was a great source of inspiration for the Sangha in Dharma City.

We are grateful for Rinpoche’s visit and the positive impact it had on our community.
