Tibetan Dance གླིང་བྲོ།
Come to Dharma City to have fun with us while learning traditional Tibetan dances.
Most folk dances are performed in a circle. They are traditionally sung a capella or to the accompaniment of the པི་ཝང་། fiddle or the སྒྲ་སྙན། lute. Nowadays a loud speaker is often used. To dance around a fire is even better…
The dances that we will learn is called Lingdro “The dance of Ling”. It is a sacred dance performance in 8 chapters written by Mipham Rinpoche (1846-1912) invoking the deity King Gesar of Ling. It is meant to pacify negative influences of the time, place and to gain peace and prosperity. It was first performed and disseminated in the Dzogchen Monastery in Tibet.
