Patrul Rinpoche’s centre in Poland is officially registered as religious association; nevertheless, it has no permanent home where practices could be held daily. For over ten years courses have been organized in Srebrna Góra and public talks in main cities in different venues. The organization often provides translation of texts and teachings that are broadcast online.

How it all started in Poland
Patrul Rinpoche came to Poland for the first time in 2003 and gave his first lecture in the centre of Wrocław.
The summer holidays for schools were about to start and people were like these children longing for freedom of mind. The conference room was crowded and Rinpoche was very joyful. During the lecture he talked about the nature of mind; many people fell in love with his style and followed him for the course in Słupca which took place a few days later.
Słupca is a small town and the place for the course was tiny as well. The venue was just a family house with little space for sitting and studying. However, really a lot of people squeezed in to follow the teachings. The lady who invited Rinpoche was called Danuta and a lot of good things happened thanks to her great generosity and persistence.
The hunger for the Dharma was insatiable. The students begged Rinpoche to continue, so the next course was quickly organized in September, the same year in Zieleniec, in the mountains of Lower Silesia. Rinpoche started commenting on “The Words of my Perfect Teacher” by the first Patrul Rinpoche.
At that time Rinpoche travelled a lot around the world
and many people asked him to found centres and give teachings.
In 2004 and 2005 Rinpoche spent quite a lot of time in Poland. There was a course on the second chapter of “The Words of my Perfect Teacher” and the course on “Advice to Kunzang Chögyal” and finally in 2005, the first year of the international course of the shedra took place in Poland, Słupca.
It was the first shedra in Europe opened officially. Rinpoche created a comprehensive course and wrote books for the western public. You can read more about the shedra itself and about the curriculum here. 108 students of many nationalities enrolled and started the course, about 20 of them were Polish. Rinpoche taught in Tibetan at that time, Liz translated into English and other translators simultaneously translated into Polish, French and Portuguese. Two years of the shedra took place in Poland.
At that time Rinpoche’s students purchased a place in Belgium which became Dharma City – the main centre of Rinpoche’s activities today. The third shedra course was organized there. Conditions in Dharma City were a bit spartan at the very beginning and you can read more about it here.
Courses with Patrul Rinpoche were organized in Poland every year.
Public talks were given in big cities like Poznań, Wrocław, Warsaw etc.
In 2007 and 2008 courses took place in Słupca, in 2009 in Warsaw where Rinpoche started teaching on “Bodhicaryāvatāra” known as „The Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life”. In 2010 the courses moved to Srebrna Góra where Rinpoche continued giving teachings on Shantideva’s text 9 times in the same venue, usually for a week from 2010 to 2019. The open talks were organized in Wrocław and Krakow.
Srebrna Góra remains a location where Rinpoche will most probably teach again.
The organization has no permanent home where practices could be held daily.
The students are informed about events by e-mail, facebook, website and WhatsApp group.
On the 2nd of August 2011 Patrul Rinpoche’s religious association was officially registered in Poland

Where exactly in Poland?
The courses take place in Centrum Turystyki Niekonwencjonalnej in Srebrna Góra, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, which is south-west Poland, with the nearest airport in Wrocław (50km) or Prague (170km).
It is a hotel located in a small, picturesque town. The views here are stunning. The name of the town translates as Silver Mountain. It is a fortress, which was a former military fort and now a monument and a museum. There are plenty of spots to meditate and relax. The hotel offers accommodation and food during the courses. Contact organizers and they will provide you with the details in English.
