Root teachers
“No-one can bring back jewels from a treasure island
without relying on an experienced navigator”
Patrul Rinpoche
Words of My Perfect Teacher
This is a short interview with Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche about his principal root teachers
-From Drukpa Rinpoche, my principal teacher I received all the basic empowerments, for instance Rinchen Terdzö and Longchen Nyingthik Tsa Pö, we normally say Dum Nyi (tib. two big pecha volumes). There are five volumes, all of these I received empowerments and transmissions.
-Drukpa Rinpoche also gave me the empowerment and transmission of the very important Nyingthik Yabzhi.
Whatever is practiced in Dzogchen Monasteries, I received all the empowerments from Drukpa Rinpoche.
At the same time, I also received all these transmissions from Tulku Orgyen Rinpoche. I also received the transmission of Tertön Nyima Drakpa’s Terchö from him, which is not included in the Rinchen Terdzö. It is a separate text and the empowerments I received from Drukpa Rinpoche.
Kyabje Pema Kalzang Rinpoche gave me the teachings of The Words of My Perfect Teacher, the entire Kama and like this.
“-Kyabje Zenkar Rinpoche has given me many, many transmissions.
I’d really like to say, Kyabje Zenkar Rinpoche is very dear to my heart”.
-And then second is Penak Wangtrul Rinpoche (Khangsar Tenpe Wangshuk, Khangsar Wangtrul). From him I received the more secret teachings, Yeshe Lama, Tsik Sum Né Dek, Munsal Drönme (A Lamp to Dispel Darkness) and Namke Trindral (nam mkha’ sprin bral, Cloudless Sky). He gave me the empowerment of the intrinsic nature and also introduction to the nature of the mind. This I also received from Drukpa Rinpoche.
– I received all the Dzinpa Rangdrol empowerments and transmissions from Khandro Dazer Wangmo,
Do Khyentse Shewe Yeshe Dorje’s Lineage. The empowerments and transmissions I received from Ani Dasal and of course, the Do Khyentse’s collection I received from Kyabje Zenkar Rinpoche.
“He is the great ship carrying us
beyond the seas of samsaric existence,
The true navigator, unerringly
charting the sublime path.”
JIGME LINGPA, TREASURY OF PRECIOUS QUALITIES
-When I entered the University, I received many vows from Khenpo Dawe Özer and my first teacher then, Khenpo Pema Tsewang Rinpoche. Also, Khenpo Geji, a very famous Khenpo. (Gejing Dzogchen gompa)
-Then I received the Bodhisattva vows from the tradition of Asanga and Nagarjuna both from Khenpo Kunon Özer
-Then there is, for example, H.H. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and many other great lamas that I have had the fortune to receive a little bit of teachings from.
Many other lamas have been kind to me. There are so many great teachers, teachings. I am very grateful to all of them.
